Community voices are essential in Michigan state funding decisions to ensure access and affordability for patients with cancer and align resources with the actual lived experiences of residents.

Hello YesRx Friends,

Taking time to reach out to your elected officials could make a huge difference for YesRx as Michigan navigates a difficult climate while determining the 2027 Fiscal Year budget. One way you can ensure your voice is heard is through clear and respectful communication when meeting, writing, or calling your legislators. We have included some ways you can do this below. You can click on the button to download a template letter. Please also share this information with anyone you believe may desire to offer support for the work YesRx is doing.

Thank you for considering this supportive effort. We appreciate your partnership in YesRx's audacious goal to remove barriers to cancer medication access and eliminate cancer medication waste in our State!

Finding your legislators

Each Michigan resident has a state senator and a state representative. To find yours, visit the Michigan Legislature’s website, then click on Michigan Senate and Michigan House at the top right. Contacting your state senators and then house representative is the #1 priority.

Reaching out to congressional members could also help raise awareness.

Writing to your legislators

A well-written letter can make a strong impression. Legislators receive fewer physical letters than emails, making yours stand out. A draft letter is attached to this email for you to use, if you like. When writing a letter:

  • Type or write neatly on plain paper—avoid overly decorative fonts or colors.

  • Include your full name, address, and phone number.

  • Keep your message to one page and focus on a single issue.

  • Use clear and polite language, even if you disagree with the legislator’s stance.

  • Mail it to the legislator’s office (addresses can be found on official government websites).
