Pharmacists in Michigan Improving Health Equity Through Medication Access

Doing the right thing is one of the best things you can do.

In Michigan, donated unused and unopened cancer medications can be provided for free to patients in need.

Our Vision

YesRx seeks to remove barriers to cancer medication access for vulnerable and underserved people and communities.

Our Start

In 2021, oncology pharmacists at 3 community practices in Michigan led efforts to establish the first cancer drug repositories in the State.  The repositories offered a way for patients to donate unused cancer medications and help reduce waste. In turn, the practices are able to provide the donated cancer medications to patients in need. Changes to prescriptions are not uncommon for patients with cancer and this can result in a lot of medication being thrown away. The volume of medication donations from patients and the challenges in finding patients who could benefit from these medications before they expired revealed resource and administrative requirements beyond their current practice capabilities. They needed help to move forward and YesRx was certified as a 501(c)(3) non profit organization in July 2023, to continue this good work.

Our Mission

YesRx advances health equity in underserved communities by supporting partners in healthcare in a sustainable ecosystem that improves cancer medication access and eliminates cancer medication waste.
